Will my loved one get worse care in the nursing home once Medicaid starts paying for her care?
Transcript
The law prohibits any variation in the care provided to patients based on the source of the payment. So no, legally they cannot provide a different level of care for a Medicaid patient. As a practical matter, from my own personal experience, I’ve seen that the case workers that are actually providing the care in the nursing home have no clue as to what the source of payment is. It’s handled by the business office, not by the case workers. They don’t really have any idea of what the source of payment is and everybody gets the same care by those case workers.
